What is the deal with FREE Friday?
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, admission on Friday is FREE with a bag of non-perishable grocery items to donate to the Food Bank. We say “a bag” - please be as generous as possible. Children 12 and under are always free, but consider having them bring some items, too. Special thanks to FREE Friday sponsors Giant Eagle, Fox 53, and WDVE.
Can I bring my own cooler?
It is not legal to bring alcoholic beverages to Hartwood Acres; our liquor license and liability are limited to the beverages we provide. And please remember the Blues Festival is a fundraiser for the Food Bank. To show our appreciation for your support, we make the ticket and food/drink prices extremely reasonable, far less than any other ticketed music event in this area, and parking is free. In return we are asking for your cooperation in leaving your coolers at home. (For those who choose to bring outside snacks, a $15 cooler donation will be charged)
What are Blues Bucks?
Blues Bucks are used in place of cash to purchase food and beverages (including beer) at Food Bank operated concession and beverage stands. 100% of the proceeds from Blues Bucks benefit the Food Bank!

You can get to Hartwood Acres by bus, bike, foot or car. In our efforts to “green” the Blues Festival, it is encouraged that you use alternative modes of transportation and consider car pooling. On Friday, consider participating in Bike Pittsburgh’s Car Free Fridays! Car Free Fridays encourages the region’s residents to reduce the number of single occupant car trips, and encourages the use of bikes, feet, transit, ride share, or a combination of modes to get to work and run errands. It’s easy to participate, the name says it all.
Traveling by Bus?
From downtown Pittsburgh, you can take bus Route 2 or P13, however, a significant amount of walking will be involved so consider taking your bike along! More information can be found on the Port Authority Website.
Traveling by Bike?
Check out the Google Maps bike option. If you are coming from downtown Pittsburgh, you may need to bike on Route 8 or Freeport Road. Freeport road is a better option, if you bike on Route 8, please consider using the sidewalks. As always, please practice safe biking by wearing a helmet and using lights, especially at night. Also, consider riding with other bikers.
How does the back stage pass raffle work?
If you purchase tickets in advance, either online or at a participating ticket outlet, you will receive one raffle ticket for each ticket purchased. The prize for this raffle is the opportunity to watch the headline act from backstage, and meet the musicians. The raffle tickets are numbered and we already have all the ticket stubs, so you are already entered in the raffle. All you have to do is bring the raffle ticket with you to the Blues Festival; you will need it to prove you are the winner.
We will call the backstage raffle between 8 and 8:30 pm. The winner may bring one companion (total 2 people) backstage, meet the musicians and watch the headline act from backstage.
